Hiiiii and two thumbs up for you Chawra. This is Rahul Lohia(ofcourse gujar) from a village in delhi (Ghitorni) i am always pumping when the word "gujar" strikes to me. awesome deal of knowledge in the website for the history of gujars. I was a student in new zealand and has recently started working as a Night Manager for the Accor Hotels in Auckland. For sure i am the only gujar in NZ as my car no. is gujar and no one has responded in the past. It's more of fun after knowing the link in between gujar and the gujarati's as my girlfriend is from gujrat and we are getting married soon. Anyways if a gujar bro is planning to catch up with this country then u r most welcome i will definately help you out. I believe in my cast and name a lot, i love my society and culture.. sorry but before this recent information about the history of gujars i believed the gujars to be decoits and farmers. I would love to receive mails from my gujar friends. I have met gujars in rajasthan, punjab and jammu kashmir.... so on... I will be waiting for your responses..Cheers .... Rahulkiwi@yahoo.com

hi everybody,it is a good job done by Mr. Chawra. A really great effort. It is the right time for all the community to recognise their glorious past and start doing efferts to regain that glory... our community can make progress only through education. We all should give emphasies on the education and more so on female education. Everybody is requested to do their bit in the progress of the community and regaining the gelories of the gurjars...... hi to all the muslim gujjars out there, i am a gujjar living in the uk and wanted to know more about where i come from so i did some research. There are many books out there but they contradict each other a good friend of mine set up this site which i mostly agree with check it out.. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/MABrandon/Origins.htmlI came to the conclusion that gujjars come from the prophet Ishaq(as) thats how far it can be traced. Before we came to the sub-continent we lived in the country of Georgia and can be traced as mostly muslims from the start went through the asian continent spreading islam and settled in southern india. Later moved up towards the himalayas due to a serious draught. Thats it in a nutshell my family is from Azaad Kashmir we are chauhan Gujjars, and have been living in the uk for the past 60yrs. Recently in my home town of birmingham people are becoming cast conscious and not being biased the Gujjars have prevailed on top. Alot of people treat Gujjars with upmost respect and consideration, we have become very wealthy in this country and act as mediators for jatts and rajputs. This has been a long journey for this great race of people known as the GUJJARS! respect is due. Any comments are welcome about my analysis agree/disagree post to chd786@hotmail.com

hello all,I m really surprised to see how our so called highly educated community members fight with bretheren jats and rajputs over trivial issues and start counting names and giving explanations. if the link is aimed at hurling abuses it should be discontinued. We can do some information sharing on this plat form but it is being used for very stupid purposes(check board).further members should give their email id at least to get in touch.i m karnail singh karnailbergat@yahoo.com. very one give it a thought and drop more messages.

Welcome, my Gurjar brothers & siters..this is an great attempt to make a communication plateform to discuss the various issues..my dears, the educated people here, do not wait..your brothers needs you..go and serve them..this great caste have now come to backfoot..illiteracy is prevailing in villages..go and let them feel the inner strenght which this great society have possesed from so many years..past has witnessed the bravery and excellence shown by us in every field.Time has come when we need to do something otherwise the greatness of this caste will fade by the time...and the excellence shown by our ancestors will remain only as a memory..i am feeling lack of words to thank Mr. Chawra for doing such a nice job..well, I am Damodar Singh, presently doing engineering studies at IIT Kanpur...I originally belong to small village of Rajasthan (Karauli).I am waiting to get mails from you people..we will make our dream true...let our hands meet...let us work together irrespective of the place where we are..mail me at damodar@iitk.ac.in

Hi everyone! I'm a Sikh Gujjar living in Toronto, Canada. It gives me great pride to see so many Gujjars dispersed around the globe. The Gujjar youth, particularly the Sikh Punjabi Gujjar youth since there are so few of us, find it very difficult to find gujjar marriage prospects online. Mostly, there are Hindu and Sikh Gujjar profiles listed, but Sikh/Punjabi gujjar boys and girls are hardly listed online. Why is that? ... Confused

Hi as a punjabi hindu gujar with many members of my family converted sikhs i would like to say that i do not feel ther is very much differnce between hindu or muslim gujars,an accident of birth or history, people do what they do to survive and i do not beleive in discrimination based on religion,I very much agree with mr muhammud ashraf's comments even though my knowledge on the subject is very limited.I think this is a v good website and well done to chawra!

Hi, i have been brought up in the UK with Jats and there are not may gujars here, i was always very confused as to what gujars were or where they came from. There are not many hindu/punjabi/sikh gujars in the UK,most a few households and a few muslim gujars, i was very surprised to find out that there were muslim gujars, I had expected they were all hindu ,i don't know why. I do not look very Indian, am very pale and tall, well built and people sometimes assume/ask if I am turkish/greek/afgahani. I decided to do some research and have found a few things not very much, sO i will share it with this site.. There is not much real materials on gujars, most is theory based on partial/incomplete evidence, the few facts I have found out so far are 1. the british labelled gujars as thieves/crooks etc during the raj-maybe because they were not very friendly? ( source;david saul the british mutiney)who knows? 2.one of the original sikh missals was founded by Gujar singh (a very successfull warrior/soldier who ruled a large part of the punjab ) a gujar - and gujars took part in many of the wars (source kushwant singh a history of the sikhs). I hope i have offended no body by my comments,i am a gujar and would like to find out more.tb333777@yahoo.com

Hi, I m Anil Khatana from delhi. I was just sitting on the net, suddenly idea came in to my mind to know more about the historical facts about gurjars. When i reached here, I was surprised to see such a people who love to know, share something about our community. I am an engineer and belongs to an educated family. I just want to share a fact that till date, we are known as a community which is dedicated to only one profession that is only related with the milk. If we see the present scenario, it is very difficult to find the people from our community who has proved themselves as a legend. Still we are backward due to lack of education. Let us do something towards the awareness of education and make a forum to get rid of this particular problem and not for the politics. Thanks to Mr. Chawra for creating this website and his efforts. Be in touch and wish u all the best. My email is : anil7588@yahoo.ci.in

Hello! It was the nice day of my life to visit this Chawra web site. Earlier a Gujar friend also introduced me to an information site,i.e. A History of the Gujar Tribe @ groups.msn.com. The Gujar brethrens must introduce Gujar community through internet as the Gujar is the largest tribe of the world. Safdar Khan,Gujarat, Pakistan

Hello Younas Gujar! Your sentiments expresses your sincerity with the Gujar Community. I will suggest that the visitors should not discuss religion as Mr.Bhuj Singh Gurjar from South Africa has done and Mr.Younas Gujar has responded with naming Mr.Bhug Singh. I believe that we should restrict ourselves to the welfare, recognition and betterment of Gujar/Gurjar samaj only. The question of Mr.Younas regarding the origin of Rajputs and the difference between Rajput and the Gurjar. It is an admitted historical fact that Rajput is a Mughal creation, which for the first time in Indian History was introduced by the Emperor Akbar. There are a number of opinions given about them: 1)All other tribes including some wheak Gujars who accepted the Mughal rule were given the Rajputi title by Akbar with Jagirs in Rajisthan. 2)The tribes who offered the brides for marriage to the Akbar also came to be known as Rajput, 3)The princes/sons of Gujar kings, who took brith from the dully married women were known to be the Rajkumars, whereas, the sons of Gujar Kings who took birth from women belonging to the Haram or to whom the Gujar kings have not married or they were not from his own Gujar tribe, were known as Rajputs. It is an open challenge to all the historians in Indo-Pak that the word Rajput was came to known for the first time in Akbars' regime. This word was never used in any of the ancient history books, even the 'Tuzak-e- Babri' do not carry this word. I agree with Mr.Younas that the murder of history has been commited while writing the ancient history of the India. This must be kept in mind that this has been done by the British historians, only for the reasons that the Gujars have given them a tough time. The British also needed the Rajput like Akbar. This is an important question raised by my learned brother. I hope that the Gujar historians must express their authenticated views on this. Your brother Ch.Muhammad Ashraf Gujar, Advocate High Court, Islamabad, Pakistan. muhammad ashraf 777 @ hotmail.com

I am the decendant of rana rattan singh salomber who ruled Mewar.later on ,my descending forefathers accepted Islam many centuries ago.now i am a proud Muslim Gurjar in Pakistai Punjab.i want to know that slomber or lomber gotra of Gurjars are poulated in India?and in which areas?and what is there relegion? MUSLIM GURJARS AND HINDU OR SIKH GURJARS? WHY WE ARE DISCRIMINATING THEM BY RELEGION WHICH IS THE MOST PRIVATE MATTER.GURJAR LED THEIR LIVES LIKE GLADIATORS AND GREAT WARRIORS.THANK YOU MR CHAWRA THAT YOU DEVELOPED THIS AMAZING AND INFORMATIVE SITE. GURJAR FROM PAKISTAN IS GREATLY THANKFULL TO YOU AND YOR COMPANY. MUHAMMAD YOUNAS GURJAR E-MAIL:CHYOUNASGUJAR76@HOTMAIL.COM BUNDLE OF THANKS MR CHAWRA FOR THIS SITE. KEEP IT UP. GUJJAR IS ALWAYS A WARRIOR. HE IS AREBEL. HE FOUGHT AGAINST CRUELTY AND INJUSTICE. TELL ABOUT GREAT GUJJAR PERSONALITIES IN INDIA. WHY RAJPOOT CALL THEMSELVES RAJPOOT? THEY ARE AMONG THOSE GUJJARS WHO GIVE IN BEFORE FOREIGN INVADERS AND OBEYED THEM.AND GUJJARS FOUGHT AGAINST THEM FOR CENTURIES.THERE IS MURDER OF HISTORY. IN FACT RAJPOOTS ARE THOSE WHO DEFAMED THE INDIA AND SALUTED MUGHALS AND BRITISH COLONIALISTS. India got its name from river 'Indus'. Pakistan means Pure(Pak) Land(stan). But you know how much they are pure. They are full of pure hatred, particularly against India (actually India is their motherland, they still feel that they are invader). So they want more and more land, loot and the likes. The world and even pakistani will realise the fault of Mr. MA Jinnah, founding father of Pakistan. Actually Mr. Jinnah wanted immortalise his name by creating a 'stan' I mean 'Satan'. Indians should keep them ALERT against the bad designs of Pakistanis and destory the 'satan' at the right time. It is the fate of SATAN.My advice to Pakistani and PoK Gurjars : Do not believe in Pakistan. India is your future. when you were helpless at the time of 'satanic' rules,so you converted to Islam. Now, you cam come into the Hinduism. If not do not worry, India will take care of you. Do not fight against India. You fight against Pakistanis. There is no future of Pakistan. Western countries are going to nuke in near future to save the world from the Epicentre of Terrorism (Pakistan).Bhuj Singh Gurjar, South Africa

It is remarkable, you need to be congratulated to put this on net and certainly those who thought of a samaj as a social activity way back in 1972. Gurjaras seem to belong to a clan that ruled 6th to 13th century, under different names or subclans or even a new designation as Rajputs during Muslim rule. The clan is much bigger and wide spreadin North central India. There are also several other social groups like yours and you should think of making some contacts with them. But, I wonder if any one else has come on the net. Best wishes,P S Chauhan Email: : drchauhan@vsnl.com

Hi,Just chanced upon your site and went through the "Tips for USA" section. The site is quite appealing, but it's sad to see that all Indian sites talk about Bollywood, latest songs, some culture, recipes, etc., nowhere do they deal with topics like 401(k) and social security. It's been quite sometime since I've been wanting to know as to what happens to a 401(k) account and social security when an NRI from the US goes back to India. Looks like the Indian government does not have any problems with returning NRIs enjoying retirement plans setup in foreign countries, I don't know if the American government is also okay with foreigners taking advantage of their 401(k) and social security on their return to home country. Any pointers to answering these queries will be helpful.Thanks.E-mail:: theidgirl@ivillage.com
